A word game called Wordle has hooked online users which invites players to guess a mystery five-letter word, known as the “wordle” in six attempts.
But who is its creator Josh Wardle? Let’s meet Josh and find more about his career and how his game gained so much popularity in recent weeks.

What is the Wordle game?

Wordle is a daily word guessing game created by Josh Wardle who is based in Brooklyn, New York.

He created the puzzle game for his partner, Palak Shah, who loves word games.

Josh created the prototype of the game in 2013 and decided to revisit the game during the pandemic.

The game was first released to the public in October 2021 and by January 2nd 2022, more than 300,000 players have played the game.

Who is Josh Wardle?

Josh Wardle is an artist, product manager and software engineer at Reddit.

According to his LinkedIn profile, he studied a BA degree in Media Arts at Royal Holloway, University of London, and earned a MFA degree in Digital Arts from University of Oregon.

He is most famous for two online experiments he created, The Button (2015) and The Place (2017).

The Button was a Reddit game with a 60-second countdown which would reset each time a user pressed on a button, until the timer reached zero.

The Place was a canvas game which lasted for 72 hours and gave players the opportunity to fight over what was drawn on the canvas.

Josh worked as a software engineer for Pinterest between 2018 and 2020.
