Jesse Lingard is now ready to quit Manchester United and seal a permanent move to West Ham in the January transfer window after accepting his Old Trafford career is at its end.
That’s according to the Mirror, who report Lingard is one of several stars Ralf Rangnick has frustrated since taking charge. The Manchester United dressing room is on the verge of a crisis, with multiple stars unhappy with their lack of game time so far under the German.
As many as 11 players are considering their futures, as they feel Rangnick has isolated and marginalised them. The former RB Leipzig managers’ methods have also failed to convince some in the squad. The situation has created a bad atmosphere within the camp, as well.
Lingard is one of those Rangnick is yet to trust since replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the interim United manager. The 29-year-old has played more minutes for England so far this season (169) than he has under the German (89).
Rangnick gave Lingard his sole outing over six games since taking charge in the Red Devils’ dead-rubber Champions League group stage tie with BSC Young Boys on December 8. He is yet to play in the Premier League and has spent two games outside of the match squad.
Lingard ready to quit Manchester United for West Ham
Manchester United are resigned to losing Lingard as he is also out of contract at the end of the term. He is also ready to leave Old Trafford in the January sales to restart his campaign.
West Ham are determined to re-sign Lingard, as well, after his successful loan transfer from Manchester United last season. The Hammers hope the Red Devils accept a cut-price fee in the winter market to avoid losing him for free, having failed to seal his switch last summer.
Lingard is ready to join West Ham if the Irons and Manchester United can agree on a fee for his transfer, too. He flourished in claret-and-blue during his five-month spell at the London Stadium last season, scoring nine and assisting five goals over 16 Premier League games.
Moyes preparing Irons bid for Lingard transfer
David Moyes started Lingard in all 16 of his West Ham outings during his loan transfer from Manchester United. He only failed to feature in two of their matches due to being ineligible to face his parent club and having joined too late to make his debut at home to Liverpool.
Lingard’s stellar showings have Moyes aiming to reunite with the £110k-a-week playmaker in January. The Express note the Scot is preparing a £10m bid he hopes the Red Devils accept to avoid losing their academy product Michael Carrick deems to be ‘unique’ for free.
“He senses where the space is and how to use it,” Carrick once told the Manchester United website. “I wouldn’t necessarily say he’s a dribbler with skills and tricks, but he’s dynamic.
“How he plays, he is unique in some ways. You don’t see so much of that in the game as everyone wants to get on the ball and do something on the ball. Off the ball, he’s very effective.”
